Brain Maxed Out
Do you ever feel that you cannot take any more information into your brain? On Thursdays at about 2PM, my brain is full, no mas. The solution to this problem is not going to the container store and organizing your closet. Capturing, analyzing, prioritizing information in your brain is like a cell phone with limited data. The complexity of the info is something to also consider. I can read for pleasure or talk on the phone all day. I store almost none of it, and move on. Analysis at work or a school project or exam is a different animal. The brain space it takes to triage, process, and analyze this information is greater. The cost of overloading your brain - my brain - can be physical; eye twitching, loss of quality sleep, asking myself ‘what is the point of this life?’
Is there a smarter way to collect the information coming in? The older I get - or rather - the smarter I get, I have learned better, smarter, and more powerful tools. After we clean the data in excel, distilled it down to the nugget - then what? Where do we import this data set?
I’ve seen some Project Management tools out there that can be used for personal use. There are low/no code applications you can customize for your family that seem pretty useful - Sally’s at soccer practice. That’s not what I need. I’m taking auto-sync/filter/sort directly from the email or text or even from a text book.
I wonder how the future of genetic selection - however indirect - will impact the way we process and store information. What would we want to improve in the biology of the brain if we could?
